Remington Model 887TM RECALL NOTICE

On November 26 , 2014, Remington Arms Company announced a voluntary recall of their Remington Model 887TM shotguns. The shotguns affected by this recall were manufactured from December 1, 2013 to November 24, 2014. The Remington Model 887 is a pump-action shotgun with a polymer finish called Armorlokt intended to survive any type of weather condition with no exterior surfaces exposed to rust. This series of firearm has been manufactured by Remington since 2009.

Uniform: [yoo-nuh-fawrm], noun, an identifying outfit or style of dress worn by the members of a given profession, organization, or rank.

The ubiquitous 5.11 Tactical Vest has grown in popularity from its covert beginnings with various military and law enforcement units to almost a standard of dress within many private contracting companies and citizens that legally conceal carry. In the Sandbox, it is the un-uniform. While not wearing an official military uniform, it is very popular with the contracting crowd. There are times when this quick recognition is good.

Medical Battle Packs

At Fort Sam Houston, the Tactical Combat Medical Care (TCMC) course is taught by US Army Physician Assistants to deploying Doctors and PAs. The Battle Pack is one of the many great ideas to filter out of that course.  It has made it way to the Canadian side of the house by my deployment partnered with a US Army PA.

Remington Model 700 and Model 7 Recall

On April 11, 2014, Remington Arms Company announced a voluntary recall of their popular Model 700 and Model Seven rifles with X-Mark Pro (“XMP”) triggers. The rifles affected by this recall were manufactured from May 1, 2006 to April 9, 2014. This series of firearm has been manufactured by Remington since 1962. It is available in many different calibers from .17 Remington all the way up to .458 Winchester Magnum. This rifle remains in service internationally with NATO forces and Law Enforcement. The Whiskey Delta Gulf is sharing this recall notice in the interest of safety.

CTOMS 2nd Line in the Dismounted Role

The CTOMS 2nd Line was integrated into a layered approach to combat trauma during my second deployment to Afghanistan. On this deployment, I was part of a small team embedded with the Afghan National Police to provide training, liaison and combat power to their Police Sub-Stations, patrols and operations. This was a few years ago, so some of the medical kit in the loadout is outdated. Always check the current recommendations by the CoTCCC or CCCWG before any deployment.

CTOMS 1st Line, a blast from the past.

This is a review of a discontinued CTOMS pouch. Though CTOMs still has a few of these excellent Treatment Kits for sale on their website. The 1st Line was integrated into a layered approach to combat trauma during my second deployment to Afghanistan.
