Happy New Year 2016

As you hoist a pint this evening,
with your close family and friends,
take a moment to remember

those who never came back again.

To us and those like us!

Damn few!!

Merry Christmas 2015

Thoughts and Prayers to all of you
deployed overseas or on the high seas.
May your treasures this Christmas be a care package'
Full of laughter, memories and happiness,
Friendships rekindled and hearts filled with joy.

Remembrance Day 2015

Photo: Sgt Norm McLean, Canadian Forces Combat Camera

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Major John McCrae

Sling Stowage

A sling is to a rifle what a holster is to a pistol. A good combat sling is a minimum requirement for a functional baseline. During vehicle based operations, a sling can hinder a rapid egress. A loose sling will catch on every corner or hook as you try to debus! Fact. Murphy’s Laws of Combat. Imagine trying to exfil in a rolled over, gear strewn everywhere burning and filled with smoke vehicle.

"Support Side Shooting" with Gunslinger Roland

This commentary was published by Gunslinger Roland in a private training forum. With his permission, I share it here for others. -Whiskey Delta Gulf

"I don't switch hands shooting pistol based on cover. BUT I do shoot a lot of weak hand only pistol because I have suffered a complete fracture of my humerus. I have experienced an arm dangling from my shoulder and bending forward in the middle of my upper arm. I bent over to collect some of my kit off the ground and seeing the sheer uselessness of that arm and hand as a result of the break.

The test to find the light best for your application is this: stand in a lighted area, or in a dark area with full illumination in between you and the target area, and illuminate into the deepest area into which you will need to see detail.

NUKOHEAD from Nukotools - Leave an Impression

I would like to thank 2 Cent Tactical for the introduction to Nukotools and the general concept of non-metallic ‘multipurpose’ key fobs. The fact that the law is very specific about metallic construction in Canada with regards to nucks.

Happy Canada Day 2015

We find it befitting that our 100th post is on Canada Day

While enjoying your freedom today, ponder on all the rights you have and how good life really is in Our Home and Native Land; then raise a glass and thank those who protect those freedoms.

"Crowding Cover" with William Petty

This Article was published by Mr. Petty in a private training forum. With his permission, I share it here for others. -Whiskey Delta Gulf

Let's talk about "crowding cover". It's a subject that is brought up by students on a pretty regular basis in the VCQB* courses. There are times when crowding cover (working extremely close to whatever barricade you find yourself against, as opposed to having "stand off room" to work) is advantageous or a necessity.

In my courses, I stress the importance of several things, but probably most important of these are the need to continue to train yourself and the need to train with multiple teachers.

This information has been shared from the Magpul Industries Corporation official Facebook page. As many of the blog readers may use these magazines for tactical work, CCW or home defence, Whiskey Delta Gulf is sharing this information in the interest of safety.  We have heard rumours that some brands of hollow points have occasional feeding issues.

Temple Indexing

A couple months back, I contacted William Petty about Temple Index technique. This has been shared with his permission -Whiskey Delta Gulf

Picture provided by Firelance Media

What is it, where did it come from and do I have to use it in order to be cool?
It’s a technique that has been around for a long time.  Simply put, Temple Index is to index the firearm vertically, parallel to the head, with the knuckle of the hand touching the temple.
