Violence of Action

Speed, Surprise and Violence of Action are generally accepted principles of CQB and interior combat. Different schools of thought place emphasis on different principles to satisfy their doctrine. Personally, I have always thought that Violence of Action is the most misunderstood aspect.

"The mindset that you must cultivate
if you are going to fight inside a structure
is that of a hunter."

FAKE Combat Application Tourniquets

BOLO: FAKE Combat Application Tourniquets have been spotted at a Canadian Forces Combat First Aid (CFA) course! It was local contamination only by a misguided soldier who purchased it from Amazon. The Diagnostic Check & Weapon Transitions

Diagnostic checking during a weapon transition is wasted time. Some people call it a chamber check but that can be confused verification of weapon status.

Diagnostic check: (verb) the act of reflexively canting a weapon that does not fire to the left and inspecting the bolt or slide position to diagnose the stoppage.

SJ Hardware Benelli M4 +1 Magazine Tube Extension

A few months ago, I received a gift basket of shotgun parts for my Benelli M4 Tactical from SJ Hardware. For the sake of clarity, I will disclose that I have known the owner of SJ Hardware for over a decade and consider him a friend. Additionally, the product was provided to me free of charge with the promise I would be honest in my assessments. As my regular readers know, friendship is not a free pass on this blog. This is the fourth in a series of articles assessing this collection of aftermarket accessories.

Improvised MOLLE Drop Panel

A few years ago, a very good friend of mine showed me this trick. I thought it was an excellent example of ingenuity and improvisation that should be shared. I stumbled across the pictures on my computer this week and decided to finally write a blog about this improvised MOLLE Drop Panel.

The Pelican 1920, Gen2 vs Gen 3.

Quite a few months ago, I picked up a Pelican 1920 Generation 2 at Mountain Equipment Co-op. This new incarnation was long awaited upgrade to the 1910-20 series of pocket flashlight making the family more competitive with other choices on the market. Both the 1910 and the 1920 Generation 2 were released in Spring of 2014. I finally got around to picking one up in May of 2016.
